Does Using a Dimmer Save Electricity?

Pingston Electric, LLC

The answer is YES. Light dimmers save energy by reducing the flow of electricity to the bulb and allowing lights to operate with lower power outputs. With a traditional light switch, the only setting is on and off, meaning you are either using 0% electricity of 100%.

Can LED Light Bulbs be Dimmable?

While many LED bulbs are now dimmable, not all of them are and not all of them dim. Please check the packaging to ensure that the LED bulb that you are purchasing is dimmable.

Do I Need a Special Dimmer for LED?

Because of their circuitry, LEDs are not always compatible with traditional dimming switches. If you'd like your LED to be dimmable, you will need to replace you current dimming switch with a (LED-Compatible) dimmer.

The Advantages of Dimmer Switches

Being able to set the ambiance of a room through your light switch is much more convenient than having to buy many different lamps to have the same versatility. Dimmer switches are a great addition for every room because they automatically unlock multiple levels of lighting.
